Travel: Reward Credit Cards

This is more of a thought, but if you have or are planning to have in the future, I can’t emphasize enough how much reward miles can help here and there for travel when you have kids over 2.

Under 2 they are free, but they grow up and travel becomes a lot more expensive, so why not if you are single or married without kids or with one, find out which airline you want a credit card to or get a general one, and use that as your main one.

I did it with Delta when I was single and I used those miles recently for a flight and it was amazing, I could go where I wanted with the kids for no immediate hit on my bank account (I get that I spent the money before, but now it feels free!).  And today we have the AMEX British Airways and then Cap One Venture (general) card and on numerous occasions have used out miles on the Venture card and it is so helpful.

You can travel and why not make it an added bonus for spending as you would on a normal basis??  I say ditch the old cards, I remember I used to have a NFL credit card… WHY??? I don’t need more gear from my favorite football team, I need to be getting something back that can lead to more family memories.

So if you don’t already have one, look for either a specific airline that you know flies from an airport near you OR look for one that goes to destinations you want to frequent.  DO it now while you are single, married or have 1-2 kids, it’s not too late!!! Or get a general travel rewards CC where you can use miles for any airline!!
