Family: Unexpected Toys for my Kids

So for my first baby I bought every toy or whatever was being sold to me and expected that thing to be used for it’s desired purpose!!

However after realizing with baby #1, that nothing goes according to plan and your child wants what they want.. I’ve learned the toys can really be anything and your house without kids is already full of them. Examples are:

  1. Teething Solutions:
    • I bought: Every teething solution the plastic keys, the giraffe (Sophie) and the teething rings and necklaces..
    • What works for us: Cool wash clothes for her to suck on (can freeze them), my older daughters foam play mat (the alphabet one or anyone one like THIS) – she chews on any of those and it is gold!
  2. Water Bottle – For ages 0 – 2, I use a plastic water bottle (make sure the top is on tight or off and the little plastic thing is off), put a little water if closed or as is.  It makes noise, the water is shiny and they can shake it.  Gold
  3. The remote/clicker: There is usually a remote that you never use for the TV, if you pretend that this remote is the important one and say no to your baby or toddler, eventually they REALLY want it (takes 2 seconds) and then that is the perfect toy.  Basically anything that you tell them not to go near is what they want.
  4. Pots and Pans: Put them out in the kitchen and this is a more obvious toy to most parents but definitely brace yourself for loud noises!
