Food for Thought: Why are there at least 3 different ways to address women but only 1 for men?

I don’t know the answer but it probably was decided upon along time ago when it was necessary for someone meeting a woman to be able to categorize her right away. Married, single, younger than 12... but yet the need to know this about men has never been brought up...
.
Society plays into it to, but I’m not sure I buy into it anymore as I’m looking at all the ways our society around the world has been built and purposely steers our beliefs.. trying to not go the way they want me to think.
.
I want equality everywhere and this is subtle, yes, but if there was just one like Ms. for all women then that would be equal to men.
.
So in this scheme I’m a Mrs. and the wedding industry plays this up for good reason ($$) and I think women know it sounds slightly off when you are addressed Mr. And Mrs. Mans Full name.. its old school but it can be changed.
.
I’m going to start addressing myself as Ms. and change the game a little..

Fact: I’m pregnant. Also a Fact: I’m unhirable

Fact: I’m pregnant. Also a Fact: I’m unhirable to companies because I’m pregnant. .
I’m ready to work and I have my MBA (a degree I got so I would never be in this position), but the reality is in 6 months I will take some sort of maternity leave, so in their eyes it isn’t worth it.. in mine it makes me realize this is not okay!!!! I work really hard...
.
This is a reality I’ve never had until now, since I’ve been employed or studying since I was a sophomore in high school. But I’m happy I’m experiencing it because MANY women have been here... and it is unfair.
.
Questions that come up for me now are: why do only women have to have this problem or set back in their career? It doesn’t take one to make a baby, why are women the only ones that see consequences in the workforce?? Parenting should be a joint thing, why is the first year any different? If we start here this will slowly take away the OLD theory that women should stay at home... right??
.
Yes, childbirth for obvious reasons is harder on the woman but people!! raising a kid takes two people. We need to think bigger here. The first couple of months sure the woman is needed more but I propose this:
.
If a company can pay a woman maternity leave, pay the man the SAME leave to be taken when they want. Problem solved: when anyone is going to get hired, no one has to feel ashamed about having kids or worried about telling their bosses or applying for a job because it could be a man or the woman taking the leave to be with their kid (s)!!!
.
Let’s stop making woman pay in terms of their careers for doing what is natural... and let’s hold men accountable for doing what is natural to them in sex (get off) and let them share some of the weight of childbirth and parenting by being with their kids at some point in that first year!!! It’s not rocket science!! Parental leave should be equal for both! And in the US for sure it should be longer but that is a different fight.

Cheers to speaking out about issues and realities that I’m passionate about!! Those that know me personally, know that I’m outspoken, unfiltered and will be brutally honest about what I believe in.

It really is simple, I believe in women and mothers! We are strong, resilient, emotional, fighters and above all just badass! Men if you feel left out, I will not hate on you here, I believe in good men too and those that lift women up and are not afraid of our successes.
.
The reality is, in this world that we live in, women in the past have been quiet about the norms of society and things that have “always been done” but the reality is enough is enough.
.
My aim here is to highlight norms that should be questioned or pointed out in the workforce as well as day to day life, find ways to equalize society, point out facts of what is to come, questions that I run into as a mom of girls and in general in this world and also bring into focus how other countries and cultures are handling gender inequality, to hopefully learn from them.

I’m a proud mother and a woman and it’s just not okay to stay quiet anymore!

On this Easter, I’m really reflecting on my feel

On this Easter, I’m really reflecting on my feelings. .
Today just reminded me that even though I’m usually surrounded by a lot of people during the day often times, I feel alone.
.
Every decision is a choice in life and probably has a consequence #deepthoughts . But when I go to make choices or a decision, I can link 100 thoughts in a matter of seconds and usually can’t talk to anyone about them. Or at least talk to someone in the moment when my mind is racing, the other person doesn’t understand how I linked that to that, so it’s hard to share how I feel thus I feel alone and unsure sometimes of what to do.
.
I don’t really know what I’m supposed to do in these moments but I thought I would share my #realmoments .
Sometimes I feel bad even saying something like this because from the outside in, everything looks fine and how could I possibly feel alone with kids constantly around and friends etc... but that is my feeling and #feelingsaregold .

Yup, this is bathroom selfie!! I don’t have a full length mirror in my house and it is rare that I think I look decent!

I’m 15 months postpartum and even though everything is sucked in here, I feel like I’m getting back to me physically.

My favorite part of my body has always been my legs, since I’m top heavy! My legs here, I like, so I wanted to capture them. They have been through the ringer with two kids and a lot of swelling during my pregnancies!

This is my baby step to accepting my new body reality, definitely not there yet.. this photo is dark for a reason!

1a. I dislike the term stay at home mom because that moms job during 8-5 (day job) is taking care of the kids, but outside of that her partner better get their a** home and help.. so all moms are working moms or dads..#allmomsareworkingmoms
2. If one parents job takes them away from the house outside of 8-5 because of travel, their rank in a company, the type of job they have.. that is on that parent and you better make it up to the other in anyway you can to help the other parent if they are picking up the slack for you at home outside of 8-5 M-F
3. If you think about it this way, every parent should get a “break” if you communicate and give each partner some “me” time to spend it however they wish (outside of working hours)... hopefully there will be less resentment.
3a. Don’t assume your “me” time is more important based on your day job! And definitely don’t schedule in your “me” time without informing your partner
4. It doesn’t matter whose job is bringing in more money during 8-5, all is fair in parenting and anyone that uses that to justify, it’s just not right.
5. Ask, kids have routines and schedules and commitments.. if your day job brings you to the office outside of the house, respect the parent whose day job is with the kids.. so don’t assume you know everything, ask questions... exactly the same way that no one who isn’t in the office for their day job would go in expecting they know everything, you ask questions to people.
6. If you know a single parent or foster parent, offer to help them so they can get that “me” time.. #dontbeselfish
Final Thought: All parents are Working Parents, the only difference is what their 8-5 day job is.. what they do between 8-5 doesn’t give any one parent the right to dictate what the other “should “ do outside those hours.. it’s all fair game because it takes two to make that baby!!! #ittakestwo #wellrudybell #parenting #allisfair
